I’m doing this because I’m in a position physically and mentally to attempt something difficult, and I don’t want to waste that window.
I want to ride through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the American West and see what I’m capable of over a long arc of time.
The ride also honors friends I’ve lost to traffic violence and keeps the conversation around road safety alive, particularly for cyclists and pedestrians

The route follows some of the most iconic landscapes of the American West — the Pacific Coast, the Cascades, the Yellowstone corridor, the Utah red rock deserts, and finally the Grand Canyon.
It’s a route that reflects the spirit of western exploration: big landscapes, long distances, and the chance to move through them slowly and deliberately.
The goal is to cross these places under my own power and arrive at the Grand Canyon to watch the sunrise.
i WILL get back at you
